What does it mean to “be real”?
It means to look at “what is” exactly as it is in the moment – not adding to it or skipping over anything.
It’s about acknowledging your own feelings – exactly as they are. Not the “should” feelings based on what we “think” we should feel given the circumstances. THE REAL FEELINGS.
It’s only moving through the messiness of life that we expand and can feel our soul…when we feel alive right here, right now.
The process doesn’t always look like we imagine. In fact, it rarely looks like we imagine. It’s okay.
Settle into the darkness and the light, but do not sit in false comfort and stay.
It’s more like settling in on the top of a slide that you trust to take you safely through all the pain and all the joy of this life.
Experience it all. Take it all in – the good and the bad – because this moment is all we ever have. So live it.
What’s the alternative? Bracing yourself, closing your eyes, and biding time until it’s over as you live in a lie of safety? All the while missing the deepest pain and the deepest joy?
It’s all so fleeting, and this is not a bad thing. Once we “get” this, we’re not so afraid and life really can be enjoyable – on some level – through it all.
How do we move through the dark times? BE REAL – especially in our quiet moments…when no one is around…gently and with care, all the while knowing you’re on your way.
Don’t rush it.
Settle in on the top of the slide and trust that you’ll safely make it through. Haven’t you so far?
