WORDS MATTER
CHARACTER MATTERS
COMPASSION MATTERS
Not only do these things matter, they greatly affect people and the world.
EACH OF US ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR WHAT WE SAY AND DO regardless of what was said and done to us.
Why think about things this way? Does this make us weak? Does this make us blind? NO – THIS MAKES US COURAGEOUS.
And with courage, we make a difference.
Without courage, we don’t take risks as much with our heart or mind.
We need all our energy to show up fully in this world as who we are and how we want to be.
We must take responsibility for our own life. This frees us up to unite as a powerful force with others also showing up fully in life.
“NEVER DOUBT THAT A SMALL GROUP OF THOUGHTFUL, COMMITTED CITIZENS CAN CHANGE THE WORLD; INDEED, IT’S THE ONLY THING THAT EVER HAS” (quote by Margaret Mead).
Allow yourself to trust the process, as chaotic and scary as it may seem. Slow down just a bit. Pause.
Gather your thoughts before you speak, then speak.
Listen to your heart before you take action, then take action.
EACH OF US IS WISE…yet not everyone is guided by wisdom. Not everyone has practiced pausing to collect this wisdom which is what gives us a sense of purpose. It gives us a calm knowing that who we are matters and how we show up in our life has a powerful ripple effect.
Have compassion for yourself and others, SO YOU CAN SHOW UP FULLY AND HAVE A MEANINGFUL IMPACT IN THIS WORLD. Otherwise, you’re expending precious energy spinning your wheels for short-term satisfaction.
To put this in practical terms, FOCUS ON HOW YOU’RE BEING with each person you come in contact with each day, regardless of
who they are.
Be conscious of each word if you decide to post on social media.
Be conscious of each remark you make throughout the day to the people you’re around. (Including the remarks you make to yourself.)
Be fully present with your loved ones, neighbors, friends, strangers.
Lead by example.
Ignore the distractions and re-focus.
“What do you mean?” you may be thinking. “Ignore? How can we ignore what’s happening in this country? In this world?”
***Because the broader perspective is understanding that only with our energy and focus can we help anyone or anything.***
We must understand that WHAT WE FOCUS ON STRENGTHENS and it’s our responsibility to focus our energy purposefully, no matter what. Then to be gentle on ourselves when we mess up (and we will). And be gentle on others when they mess up (and they will).
Forgive ourselves and others and re-focus…for the same reason…SO WE REGAIN OUR ENERGY AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE TO SHOW UP FULLY AND ENGAGE IN LIFE.
Engage how?
COMPASSION…IS THE POWER. Please don’t misunderstand what compassion is. It’s the most powerful force that exists. It’s intrinsic in every human being.
Yes, protect each other from those who harm, yet do not focus on those who harm.
Why? BECA– USE THIS WORLD NEEDS YOU AND YOUR ENERGY TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE CARING FORCE …THE MOST POWERFUL FORCE IN THIS WORLD.
You’ll need all your strength to do this, so don’t be lured into wasting your energy. And it’s up to you to decide what is a waste of your energy. (And you’ll know…if you pause long enough…you’ll know).
I wrote a poem you may connect with. Here’s an excerpt:
IT MATTERS
A shift in focus is key
to unleash compassion
also releasing our anxiety
In our stillness we’ll discover more about humanity
than any conversation may lead us to believe
Moment to moment
Human to human
Turning tides with the passing of time
The paradox of patience embracing impatience
as we finally say, “No more”
and mean it
Feel free to email me at [email protected] with “IT MATTERS” in the subject line and I’d be happy to send you the entire poem. It’s a good one. Very relevant to our times. xo
Love, always,
Lea
